Recently BCS has been featured in the New York Times, ARTnews, and one of Kate Joyce’s works gets a full page treatment in the August 2014 issue of Harper’s magazine (print edition only – on news stands any day now).

In addition, WUNC public radio and public television covered BCS, including a 5-minute video for North Carolina Now featuring new interviews with Leah Sobsey and Ivan Weiss.

I flipped on the television at lunchtime and the Tampa Bay Rays were playing the Toronto Blue Jays in a spring training game. In March, the MLB Network showed two or three of these exhibitions a day, an Observer Effect hazard that over time may very well change the nature of spring training, and baseball itself. There will be a series of BCS book events in July and August, plus a screening of Ivan Weiss’ 75-minute film, Leaving Traces, documenting the documentarians of BCS.  Admission is free to all events.  Here are those dates and details, including BCS artists confirmed for each event.

July 10.  7pm.  Regulator Bookshop.  Durham, N.C.  A BCS book event featuring reading by Adam Sobsey, the book’s primary writer, to be followed by a Q&A with Sobsey and book editor, Sam Stephenson.
